I'm supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!

The significance of walking for me

Wednesday 29th May
That’s my bone marrow transplant nurse holding onto me in that picture.

July 22nd will mark my 3rd ReBirth. Back in 2021 when I left the hospital, about 5 months after an AML diagnosis and  22 days after my bone marrow transplant, I couldn’t  walk up the stairs from the car to my apartment. One foot at a time, slowly, I would climb up…struggling.

The weeks and months that followed, I would continue to struggle to walk. When I’d walk across my living room to the kitchen, I would feel like my knees were going to buckle and that I would collapse mid walk.

In June of 2022, 11 months post transplant, I took on the Team in Training challenge to walk 1 mile a day for 30 days raising funds to support LLS. That was not an easy task but I was just barely able to complete those miles.

Last  November, I walked my first 5K, climbing up and over the Talmadge Bridge in Savannah…huge deal!!

My survival is a result of science and a sequence of miracles, biggest of them all is my full match bone marrow donor, my younger brother.
With genius doctors, nurses and NPs, supportive family and friends, prayers from even those I’ve never even met, and the many ways LLS has been by my side, fighting the fight,  I have made it to June 2024 and this fundraiser.

In anticipation of my 3rd ReBirthday, I am walking to raise funds for LLS, supporting their fight against blood cancers. I’ll be walking 100 miles from June 1-30. Won’t you please help me meet my goal?
