I'm supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!

Walking For My Dad

Tuesday 28th May
In 2003, I was heading into my senior year of high school. No worries, all fun - until a few weeks before when my dad's stomach grew so large I couldn't see his face standing at the end of the gurney as they rolled him in for exploratory surgery. He was supposed to be in there at least 45 minutes or so. We got a call in about 15 minutes saying they were closing him up. The surgeon came walking into the room to tell my mom (and me) that he was overtaken with cancer and wasn't going to make it. We were beside ourselves. Just a few years prior in 1999, my brother was killed in a tragic DUI accident the night he graduated high school. Now this?? Seriously?!

My dad was transferred from the Baptist Hospital to UMMC where Dr. Stephanie Elkins diagnosed him with Non-Hodgkin's Burkitt Lymphoma. She reassured us that it would go away just as quickly as it came. With ALL the prayers and ONE chemo treatment (followed by more as a precaution), he was cancer free.

Twenty-one years ago this fall. That's why I'm walking. I want to help keep your family here with you too.
